Lazio president’s phone outburst to Inzaghi: You’re always complaining

Published on: 22 August 2018

A video has surfaced of Lazio president Claudio Lotito in the middle of a phone call with club coach Simone Inzaghi in which he lambasted the tactician for continual complaints.

It is not known when exactly the phone call was filmed, although it is believed that it took place around Ferragosto in the build-up to the Aquile’s opening game of the season against Napoli, which they lost 2-1.

In the video, Lotito is on the street below the unknown person who recorded it as he vents his frustration with the side’s coach, who it appears was requesting more arrivals at the club.

“Simone, I decide. You do not decide. I am telling you and I want to make sure about those who aren’t fit and those who are,” the president is recorded saying.

“You are always complaining about everything, everything! You have a team that is worth 10 times more than what other teams are worth.”

Lazio didn’t take long in responding to the video, playing down the contents of the clip and assuring that legal action will swiftly follow against the person who videoed Lotito, unbeknownst to him.

“In reference to the video which has been spread across the internet and uploaded by TrediciDicembre, there has been an incorrect interpretation of the fraudulently obtained conversation,” read a club statement.

“Our lawyers have been instructed to identify the person who recorded it and the person who disseminated it and we will proceed in a civil and criminal avenue against anyone responsible for the circulation of the video.”
