The 35-year-old was signed by the Royals just before the summer transfer window ended. However, the former Sunderland striker was unavailable for the club's first two league games due to fitness concerns.

The Black Stars record goalscorer did not stay away from his teammates during the period. In some footage recently revealed,  Gyan was coaching his new teammates in the dressing room during the team's first two games.

During his team's battle on matchday three, Gyan was once again seen coaching his teammates during his warm-up.

After the game, he was asked about his recent actions and he explained that he is just trying to contribute to the success of the team.

Gyan said, “I am a very passionate person. I am very funny, jovial and I can make everybody laugh but when it comes to working, I don’t joke. If somebody is going to stab my brother and I am there I won’t allow it."

"The coach is not perfect. I am just behind him shouting at players. That doesn’t mean I am the coach. I am also trying to contribute.”

Gyan lasted just 20 minutes against Medeama on matchday three.

He will be playing under new coach Bashir Hayford after Goran Barjaktarevic was sacked following the team's devastating 3-0 defeat against Great Olympics.
