Leicester City are reportedly in 'secret' talks with former England manager Roy Hodgson, with a view to giving the ex-Liverpool man the chance to replace Claudio Ranieri at the helm of the club.

According to theDaily Mail, Hodgson met representatives of the Premier League champions in south-west London last Friday.

Leicester City's ownerVichai Srivaddhanaprabha believes Ranieri's successor should have unquestioned experience. Hodgson, who is 70 in August, is certainlya manger which has seen both the good sides to management and the bad.

Hodgson has been out of management since England's early exit fromEuro 2016, butis said to be interested in returningto management. The veteran coach initially outlined his hunger to return to the game last December, saying: "Football is very much in my blood and very much part of my life.

"I want to be involved in football. I feel good. If an offer comes along that I think is the right one for me and for the club, of course I shall be happy to take it.

"When I'm not in some way actively involved I feel a part of my life is not being fulfilled."

Craig Shakespeare has taken the batten from Ranieri as interim manager following his departure from the Foxes.

After Monday night's 3-1 victory for Leicester City against Liverpool at the King Power Stadium, fans will surely be eager to see what else Shakespeare can conjure from his wounded squad, after such a spirited performance against a Klopp side gunning for a top four spot.

Although despite such an assured first game at the helm for Shakespeare, Hodgson is still very much one of the top candidates onSrivaddhanaprabha's wish list.
