The Ghanaian youngster has signed a three years deal with the 2016 Premier League winners.

Opoku, however, will be loaned immediately to Belgian-based Oud-Heverlee Leuven to continue his development.

The promising player was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the National Collegiate Athletic Association last year after scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists for Syracuse.

In his farewell message ahead of his return to Europe, Opoku said, “I am excited to announce that I am making the transition to professional soccer.

“Syracuse University welcomed me into their family, and my time here was nothing short of beautiful. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to grow as a player.”

The forward had a stint at the Manchester City academy before moving to the United States.
