Leicester Defender Danny Simpson 'Confident' That He Will Prove Jamie Carragher Wrong

Leicester defender Danny Simpson has claimed that he thinks he and his teammates will prove Jamie Carragher wrong and avoid relegation.

The Sky Sports pundit criticised Simpson on Twitter overClaudio Ranieri's dismissal, after the right-back mocked Carragher for wearing an Everton shirt.

Carragher hinted that Leicester could face relegation, but Simpson has expressed his belief that two successive Premier League wins have lessened their chances of the drop.

I'm confident in me and the lads that that's not going to happen," he said - via theMirror. The last two results have helped with that and sometimes, football does the talking.

We've always felt with the players we've got and the mentality of our group that we would. The season before we won the league, the majority of the players went through that tough time and came through, so we all know what we need to do and I think we've started to do it.

But of course I'll shake Carragher's hand if I see him. We've had a little exchange of words and you move on. I think you can do that with someone you respect.

How many games has he played in the Premier League for Liverpool? Loads. You've got that whole Manchester-Liverpool thing going on as well.

For me, it's just light-hearted and I'd like to think it's the same from his end. It's nothing personal.

On the wins over Liverpool and Hull, he added:It was a big week for us with back-to-back wins.To go 1-0 down at home but we kept our spirit up and didn't let that get to us.It's been tough but at the same time a great week.

"Points and results make the difference. We've been horrible from front to the back, we've been fighting and we've shown quality as well."
