Leicester manager Puel refuses to slate Schmeichel for own goal

Leicester City boss Claude Puel defended his goalkeeper, despite Kasper Schmeichel being the one who scored an own goal to resign his team to defeat on Boxing Day.

It was a difficult game for Leicester against Watford, but the manager was not one to point fingers in the post-match interviews.

Schmeichel will be disappointed with the goal, and it ended up costing Leicester a point in the game.

"I think all the team are responsible from this free kick," Puel said.

"We didn't concede a lot chances today, this was just one cross we defended poorly. It was difficult to defend against this team today. They used the long ball well. It is a physical team.

"We know it was going to be difficult to play against them, they needed a result. It is just a shame that after we scored a fantastic first goal, it came down to free-kicks."
