Leon Bailey can be in Ousmane Dembele class - Leverkusen's Boldt

Leon Bailey has eight goals and six assists in the Bundesliga.

Bayer Leverkusen squad manager Jonas Boldt has said Leon Bailey can put himself into Ousmane Dembele's category if he continues to work hard.

Bailey, 20, has scored eight goals and set up a further six to help Leverkusen lead a pack of teams chasing the three remaining Champions League spots in the Bundesliga.

The Jamaican, who joined from Genk last winter, has been the breakout player of the season so far and was linked with a switch to Chelsea.

Leverkusen hope Bailey will stay for another season and, speaking to kicker, Boldt said that in the future he could, like Dembele, generate a transfer fee beyond the €100 million mark.

"We are not wasting any thoughts on letting him go. Our goal is to reach Champions League with him and build on that," Boldt told kicker.

"But if he continues to work hard, keeps both feet firmly on the ground and develops in a place like Leverkusen, why shouldn't he grow into a category like Dembele?"
