Let’s not celebrate yet; three matches to go before we are champions – Alhaji Akambi to Hearts fans

Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Alhaji Akambi has called on fans to tone down on celebrations after the win against Asante Kotoko because the club has not won the Ghana Premier League title yet.

The Phobians on Sunday afternoon dominated and defeated their bitterest rivals 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium in what was a matchday 31 encounter of the ongoing 2020/2021 Ghanaian top-flight league campaign.

With supporters of the club celebrating as if the team has already been handed the league title, Alhaji Akambi has called for calm.

According to him, there is still three matches to be played and hence the team needs to hold on with celebrations until the end of the season.

“The three points was the most important thing and we the Phobians picked it.

"We still have 3 more games to go, I will implore all Phobians to hold on with their celebrations until we are done with the three remaining three games,” Alhaji Akambi told Kumasi FM in an interview.

He continued, “Hearts of Oak is playing better football at the moment, I have not said we have won the league but let us all be patient and wait for the remaining three games and we all see who wins the title at the end of the day.”

The win on Sunday has given Hearts of Oak a three-point advantage at the top of the Ghana Premier League.

The team only needs six points from the last three matches to be crowned champions of the league.
