Former Ghana international, John Paintsil is advocating for the technical team of the Black Stars to rely on players that will feature during the 2023 AFCON qualifiers to be relied on when it’s time for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Before the World Cup kicks off late this year, Ghana must first focus on the group stage of the qualifiers for next year’s AFCON which starts next month.

According to John Paintsil, the games that will be played in the AFCON qualifiers should be used as preparations for the World Cup.

Speaking to Class FM in an interview, the retired Ghanaian footballer proposed that it will help if the same sets of players play the qualifiers and the World Cup.

“In football you always have to take it one at a time. We are privileged to find ourself in this competition which is very good.

“I think it will be good to get the players on board, use the same players playing this qualifiers and then when the time is up for the World Cup I think the boys will be ready,” John Paintsil indicated.

Ghana will kick off the AFCON qualifiers in a home match against Madagascar on May 10.
