According to multiple reports that appeared on Spanish outlets today, Getafe are set to make Barcelona's Carles Alena's move to the club permanent, after the young midfielder already spent last season at the club on loan from the Blaugranas.
The 23-year-old will cost Getafe a reported 5M Euros, less than the 8M Barcelona were originally asking. Barcelona are in the middle of a financial crisis, so any type of liquidity yhey are able to secure will be a welcome sight for Laporta. Alena came through La Masia, but was never able to find a spot in the first team, as Barcelona sent him on loan at various clubs to gain experience: first at Betis in 2020, where he appeared in 17 contests scoring once, and last year at Getafe where he ammassed 22 caps with two goals.
The player evidently is seen as a surplus for Barcelona at the moment, so the Cules decided to sell him to bring in much needed cash. We'll see if the young Spaniard is able to show his talents at Getafe.
