Manager Bruno Génésio reacted to the news that the Monaco-Lyon match will be moved to Shanghai next February during his press conference ahead of his Rennes side's match against Strasbourg on Sunday.

In comments reported by L'Équipe, the former Lyon coach stated his dislike of the proposal, adding that he could not see the value of such an event aside from the money component.

“On Mars. Let’s go to Mars. I understand that those in charge are looking for solutions to French clubs’ financial problems. But going to play a Ligue 1 match in China – apart from the financial interest, I don’t really see what it will bring, and I wish good luck to the managers for the journey and recovery.”
