Lindelof keen on Solskjaer stay

Published on: 26 March 2019

Victor Lindelof is hoping that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is appointed the next permanent manager of Manchester United.

The 24-year-old Sweden international defender has enjoyed a good run in the United side since Solskjaer was appointed as Jose Mourinho's successor in mid-December, initially on a deal until the end of the season.

During that time the Red Devils have lost just one of 13 Premier League games to move to within three points of third-placed Tottenham and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League courtesy of a stunning second leg fightback at Paris Saint-Germain.

He's been amazing since he arrived and he came here with a big smile on his face and I think that was important for all of the players.

It has resulted in speculation that the Old Trafford hierarchy will offer Solskjaer the manager's role on a full-time basis in the near future.

And Lindelof claims he will be "pleased" if the Norwegian is still in the hotseat beyond the end of this season.

He told Sky Sports: "It's not my job to decide in the end, but, of course, I'm very happy with the things that he has done since he's arrived. I have nothing bad to say about him.

"He's a legend of the club, so he knows everything about being here as a player, so when he speaks to you, you always listen. He knows what he's talking about because he has been through it all. That's also a very good thing to have.

"He's been amazing since he arrived and he came here with a big smile on his face and I think that was important for all of the players.

"He spoke to me and told me to do the things that I'm good at, to show my abilities and to express myself on the pitch. That was very nice to hear."

United are 5/4 to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, while they are priced at 20/1 to win the Champions League.
