Lionel Messi Sets New Barcelona Club Record in Victory Over Athletic Bilbao

Lionel Messi has broken yet another record as FC Barcelona romped to a 3-0 victory at the Camp Nouon Saturday over Athletic Club.

The Argentine attacker scored his side's second goal of the evening before he was replaced just after the hour with the second leg of the Copa del Rey against Atletico Madrid on Thursday coming up.

It's almost becoming a tedious job to remember all of the current records the 29-year-old holds, but this feat has certainly impacted a current Premier League manager.

Former Dutch international and Barcelona star Ronald Koeman - now in charge of Everton - has seen his record for the number of goals scored direct from a free-kick surpassed by Messi (27).

Nonetheless, it was the reaction from the fans after the game what drew stark contrast in how the five-time Ballon d'Or has to deal with trying to leave the stadium (presumably on a regular basis).

As reported by101 Great Goals, Messi's long-term girlfriend and fiancée Antonella Roccuzzo uploaded a short video to her Instagram stories after the game from inside their car as they tried to leave the Camp Nou.

The reception that Messi receives is absolutely remarkable and it goes to show how influential the South American has been for the Catalan giants.

Roccuzzo will most likely be use to the hustle and bustle that her fiancée has to endure whilst in the public domain but the footage provides a genuine perspective for fans across the world.

Roccuzzo and Messi have been together since 2008 and are set to marry later in the year.
