Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum admits he's asking manager Jurgen Klopp about taking the Holland job.

The KNVB are seeking a successor for Dick Advocaat, who is set to step down.

Wijnaldum revealed to Voetbal International: "I asked Klopp once if he wanted to be our coach, but then he did not want to. I do not know why, you should ask that one when you interview him!

"He is an emotional trainer, who also involves the playing group, he also has a lot of understanding of football, and does not require one hundred but two hundred percent from the players."

Wijnaldum was also asked why he couldn't translate his Liverpool form to the international stage.

"It has to do with so many things," he said. "At Liverpool, the team has been playing well. I play with those boys every day. With the Dutch team we do not always play together. It's harder to put your stamp on the game, despite it being possible for other countries also suffering from it, but it is a little harder."
