Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp Prepares Bid for £20m Rated RB Leipzig Star Emil Forsberg

Jurgen Klopp isreportedlyplotting a move for RB Leipzig's Emil Forsberg after hopes of signing Christian Pulisic took another setback.

Borussia Dortmund sporting director, Michael Zorc, has declared that Liverpool 'shouldn't waste their time' in their pursuit of Pulisic, who is contracted to the club until 2019.

Klopp had an £11m bid for the American international turned down in the summer as Dortmund dug their heels in and refused to let the whizkid leave, despite recently acquiring the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Andre Schurrle and Emre Mor.

Second in the league, RB Leipzig are also likely to fight off any interest in their players, including 25-year-old Forsberg who was influential in their promotion to the Bundesliga last season.

This season, Forsberg has again been on of Leipzig's best players with five goals and nine assists already in his 15 appearances. Despite only signing for £3m from Malmo in 2015, the Swede is expected to command a hefty fee as he is contracted until 2021.

Forsberg is a versatile attacking midfielder and, similar to Roberto Firmino, can play in almost any attacking position. Despite only recently becoming a well-known player, Klopp has been monitoring Forsberg since his Malmo days and has sufficient information on the winger to allow him to make a decision.

Also second in the league, Liverpool have a title race of their own to focus on and will be using the January transfer window to bolster the squad ahead of the second half of their battle for the title.

The highest goalscorers in the league have been sharing the spoils so far this season with James Milner, Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all on or over five goals this season so far.

With Mane departing soon for the Africa Cup of Nations, however, Klopp has made no secret of his desire to bring in cover for the winger and Forsberg just might fit the bill.
