Liverpool Boss Klopp Admits to Regret at Not Signing Reds Star During Time at Borussia Dortmund

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he wished he had signed Reds winger Sadio Mane during his time as manager of Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

The Senegalese star signed for the Merseyside club during the summer from fellow Premier League side Southampton for £34m, and since then has hit the ground running for Klopp's side, becoming an instrumental part of the team, scoring seven times in his first 15 games for the club.

And according toGoal, the German coach has been left astounded by the player's abilities both on and off the ball, and regrets not signing him from former club Red Bull Salzburg back in 2014 before the 24-year-old joined the Saints.

"They (the players) were brilliant with him (Mane). The club, the atmosphere¦ That stuff helps, and a little bit of luck." said Klopp.

"It worked out that he scored in his first game with a goal like this (against Arsenal). Come on! In a game like this, it makes everything easier.

Klopp: They had really open arms for him from the 1st second they heard we were signing Sadio Mane. They were like 'Oh! Okay!' That helps."

"Then there is his attitude. He is a really hard-working boy. He is really open for advice. He wants each kind of improvement. He wants to do different things. He is good. He's really good.

"The best news for me was that I could sign him. It was a mistake not to get him for Dortmund. The fact that I could get him a second time was good, really good."
