Liverpool centre-back Ragnar Klavan believes he should retain his place after his performance in the 3-1 win over Arsenal on Saturday.

The Estonian started his first Premier League game since January during the win over the Gunners, during which he partnered Joel Matip at the heart of Liverpool's defence. Goals from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum ensured Danny Welbeck's strike was only a consolation.

Speaking tothe Daily Star, Klavan said he had done enough in the match to warrant a second consecutive start next week against Burnley.

When asked whether he should keep his place next weekend, Klavan replied:"On a personal note, of course.

"But for me when I came here I told everybody straight I will help the team as much as possible.

"When I'm needed, I will be there and play, but it's [Jurgen Klopp's] decision what's going to happen now.

"For me, it's always when I play I give my best and try to make the decisions as difficult as possible."

Liverpool have been successful against the top sides, but defeats against teams like Burnley, Swansea and Hull have dampened their bid for a top four spot this season. The club are currently fourth and Klavan said his side need to continue their good form for the rest of the season.

"I think this has been the biggest problem for us this season and looking forward we have to just learn from it and grow with it.

"This is our challenge, we have to take it on and keep on going."
