Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has revealed that he found the experience of being able to serve as captain during his sides 4-1 win over West Ham on Saturday as being unbelievable.

He said: "[I found out] only an hour before the game when we arrived in the dressing room. I was a bit surprised,"

"It's a big honour. I can't grasp it as of yet. It's something I was dreaming about when I was a small kid: to be a captain of a Premier League team. To do that as a Liverpool player is unbelievable.

"It was a very proud moment and I'm speechless about it actually!"

Liverpool comprehensively outplayed the underwhelming Hammers during the game and secured victory through a brace from Mohamed Salah as well as goals from Joel Matip and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The result leaves the Reds in 5th place on the Premier League standings with 19 points form 11 games.
