Liverpool Legend Ian Rush Slams 'Sulking' Reds Star: 'He's Making It Easy For Klopp To Bench Him'

Published on: 24 November 2016

Former Liverpool Forward Ian Rush has joined inthe criticismof Liverpool and England striker Daniel Sturridge.

The ex-Chelsea front-man has been pushed aside by Jurgen Klopp this season, with the German preferring Roberto Firmino in the striking position. Sturridge has played a bit-part role so far this season, especially in the Premier League, where he has made just four starts.

Rush believes that the striker's attitude is making it easy for Klopp to leave the him, and has urged Sturridge to keep his head up.

We're going to need Daniel Sturridge. He's got to be patient and his time will come said Rush to 888Sport (H/T theMirror).

He's the best finisher at the club and he's absolutely superb but he needs to get his head down and get on with it. Sulking doesn't help anyone.

He will get a chance and he's got to take them when they come. He has to create a problem for the manger and if you're in a sulk you're just making it easy for the him.

Rush, who played for the Anfield side in two separate spells, is the club's all-time highest scorer, having scored 346 goals in 660 appearances. He now works as an ambassador for Liverpool, and is itching for them to do well.

With all of the exit speculation surrounding Sturridge, he believes that the club still need him to succeed.

In my opinion he should stay because he's got a big part to play at Liverpool. It would be harder for Liverpool to win the league if Daniel Sturridge left the club. Divock Origi is another one too.

They have to be patient because they will be needed throughout the season.
