Liverpool Linked With 19-Year-Old Santos Sensation Thiago Maia as Europe's Biggest Clubs Circle

Liverpool are interested in signing 19-year-old Santos midfielder Thiago Maia, according to reports emanating from his native Brazil.


The highly-rated youngster is being scouted by many of Europe's top teams, with many looking to make potential offers in January.


Champions League sidesNapoli andMonaco are said to be interested, while Europa League competitors Schalke are considering a bid and Zenit Saint Petersburg have already seen an offer rejected.

According toESPN Brasil,Liverpool have enquired about the teenager, and have proposed a deal to take him to Anfield.


Manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly eager to sign the midfielderand has asked the club to scout Maia, whohimself has revealed he is unsure where his future lies, indicating that it might be out of hands whether he stays at Santosor leaves.


"I'm on vacation, it's been a lot of work, but a very important year in my career, I was an Olympic champion and, in Santos, we had a regular season, the São Paulo title and the Brazilian runner-up," Maia stated.

"The Saints and my representatives decide if it's time for a transfer. If it's to stay, the supporter can rest easy, I want to repeat the good season, play Libertadores and be a champion."


Having made his Santos debut back in 2014, Maia has gone on to make 90 appearances in all competitions for the Brazilian side, scoring twice in the process.


His reputation throughout the football world has increased ever since helping Brazil win Olympic gold in the summer in Rio, earning plaudits for his box-to-box style of play, with his passing, tackling and dribbling also being praised.
