Liverpool reach deal to sign Cody Gakpo from PSV

English Premier League giants, Liverpool have reached an agreement with Dutch giants PSV to sign highly-rated youngster Cody Gakpo.

Despite strong interest from Manchester United, the forward has decided to sign for the Anfield club to continue his career.

“PSV and Liverpool FC have reached an agreement on the proposed transfer of Cody Gakpo. The 23-year-old attacker will leave for England imminently where he will be subjected to the necessary formalities ahead of the completion of the transfer,” a club statement from PSV said on Monday.

“Both clubs are not making any announcements about the transfer fee. "But this is a record transfer for PSV,"  PSV general manager Marcel Brands noted.

The club statement added, “The PSV management completed the negotiations on Boxing Day and gave Gakpo permission to travel to England.”

An official announcement is expected to be issued by Liverpool once the player passes a mandatory medical examination to complete his move from PSV to the club.

Cody Gakpo is a Dutch forward to with a Ghanaian roots. He was part of the Netherlands squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and excelled in the matches he played.
