Liverpool are eyeing up a move for 22-year old RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita as Jurgen Kloop looks to strengthen his midfield ahead of next season, reportedGoal.

The Guinea international can operate as either a holding midfielder or an attacking midfielder, providing great versatility as he averages 3.23 tackles and 3.29 interceptions per gamein the Bundesliga. So far this season, he has alsodirectly contributed to 10 of his team's goals in the top flight of German football.

Keita's ability to carry possession so effectively, in addition to his expertise in transitional play would definitely aid Liverpool, who are known for playing speedy counter-attacking football under Klopp. Only Dortmund's Ousmane Dembelehas pulled off more successful dribbles than the Guinean international.

However, Liverpool face tough competition from the likes of Bayern, Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal to secure the signature of the 22-year old midfielder, who is turning out to be one of Europe's hottest prospects. Leipzig are desperate to hang on to him as they look to offer him a new contract which would see him become the club's highest earner.

Leipzig could offer Keita the opportunity to play Champions League as they sit in 2nd place - 8 points clear of 3rd place Dortmund - something Liverpool may not be able to offer as they find themselves in a dog fight for a top 4 position in the Premier League.

Rather fortunately for the Reds, Sadio Mane is represented by the same agency that represent Keita and will be hoping they can play a role in persuading their client to swap Leipzig for Merseyside.
