Liverpool Receive Major Boost as Reports Suggest Manager Jurgen Klopp is Not on the Barca Shortlist

Liverpool have been handed a major boost after reports by Spanish media outletMundo Deportivo (viaSportwitness) suggest that manager Jurgen Klopp is not a potential candidate to succeed Luis Enrique as Barcelona head coach.

Enrique's decision to leave the Nou Camp at the of the season was confirmed only last Wednesday, and inevitably led to speculation that a number of Premier League managers could be offered the chance to take up the reigns with the Catalans.

These Premier League bosses have been linked to the Barcelona job.

Some reports had linked Klopp with the job, as his attacking style of play is thought to fit in well with the Barcelona way.

However,Mundo Deportivo have now suggested that the German is unlikely to be considered as he has very few ties with the club and though his style may assimilate Barca's philosophy, a lack of history between the two parties means that it's unlikely Klopp will be on the shortlist.

The report by the Spanish paper also appears to rule out Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri for the same reasons, as the possibility of an internal appointment appears to be the more likely option.

Barcelona have often been keen to appoint a new manager from within their own set up, including former players such as Frank Rijkaard, Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique.

Such is the importance of tradition at the club, it's unlikely that many outsiders will even be offered the chance to discuss the role and Klopp's current contract at Anfield means that he should remain with the Reds for the foreseeable future at the very least.
