Liverpool Set to Fight it Out With Atletico Madrid Amongst Others for Young Brazilian Fullback

Liverpool could have a battle on their hands to sign Brazilian fullback Zeca - according to reports from Brazilian news outlets Lance! and Globo Esporte.

Atletico Madrid are currently thought to be in pole position to secure his services, meaning Liverpool might have work to do. The outlets claim PSG and AC Milan are also interested.

The youngster, who plays for Brazilian club Santos, is primarily a right-footed left-back, but has been utilised on the right for his country during the Olympics.

His versatility is likely to appeal to Jurgen Klopp, who is no stranger to deploying a right-footer on the left side - James Milner has been his go to man for most of the season after losing confidence in Alberto Moreno early on.

Liverpool are nowthought to be able to offer both Santos and the player more money than rival clubs after reportedly failing with an €8m bid last summer.

Santos are likely to stand asfirm as possible over their young talent, as the club competes in the Copa Libertadores for the first time since 2012. Lance! apparently claims that the club would only accept an "irresistible offer" for Zeca, which for a Brazilian club, is unlikely to constitute anything astronomical.

Liverpool's interest in the star could spell the end for Moreno, who is firmly behind Milner in the Anfield pecking order and with Joe Gomez back in the foray, the Spaniard might find opportunities even harder to come by under a manager who knows who he likes.
