Liverpool Summer Signing Ragnar Klavan Reveals His Feelings Over Lack of Game Time

Published on: 10 November 2016

Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan has admitted to feelings of discontent with his current role at the club following his summermove to Merseyside, describing not playing regularlyas 'unpleasant'.

The Estonian international arrived at Anfield in Julyfor £4.2m from Bundesliga side FC Augsburg, in what was a fairly surprising move andhas made just four appearances for the club in all competitions since his arrival.

According tothe Metro, the 31-year-old has suggested that he is unhappy with his position in the squad, and feels he has more to offer than a place on the bench.

However, the 115-cap internationaladmits he is experienced enough to keep his head down andfight for his place in a Liverpool starting XI that is in tremendous form.

"If you don't play, it is unpleasant, but it's the coach's decision, Klavan said.

At the moment it seems to be a legitimate choice, the club won 6-1 [against Watford prior to the international break] and are now league leaders.

For me, [not starting games] doesn't mean anything, and I'm not going to analyse it. I have the advantage that I'm old enough to understand the situation.

"Certainly it's different and takes getting used to. Every once in a while, on game day, you expect to play, and if you don't, there's a reason for this.

Klavan is currently third choice, behind the starting pair of Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip, but appears to be ready to make an impact should the Reds need his services over the upcoming congested period of fixtures.
