The Member of Parliament for the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has called for the localization of sporting infrastructure in the country.

She made this statement on Tuesday in parliament when the Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif presented the report on the 2023 African Games.

Adwoa Safo believes there are no are no enough sports facitities at rural areas to help in the nurturing of talents.

She commended the government for the construction of AstroTurf pitches across the country but said these need to be spread across rural areas.

“Infrastructure is very important when it comes to sporting activities,” Adwoa Safo said.

“I must say that as a country we've been able to develop a lot of our sporting centers and sporting activities. But there's still more room for improvement.

“I think it is centered in the big cities and we should localize our sporting infrastructural development.”

Adwoa Safo’s constituency is one of the rural constituencies in the Greater Accra Region.
