Hughes has been turning heads all around, and has been tipped to follow in the steps of former Hamilton starlets James McArthur and James McCarthy, who starred over there before making it into the Premier League. He is the youngest player to ever feature in a Scottish Premiership match, having made his debut as a 17-year-old against Inverness last season.

He joined the Accies as a 10-year-old, and has made three appearances for the side under Martin Canning this season.

Hughes has also garnered interest from Everton, who signed McCarthy from Wigan after impressive performances had earned him a move to the Latics. McArthur was also sold to Wigan, but moved on to Crystal Palace thereafter.

United are thought to be leading the chase for the youngster. Jose Mourinho is reportedly stepping things up at the club in terms of scouting and recruitment, but Arsenal surely seem a better destination, despite the Portuguese showing a bit of willingness to give young players a shot at the club.

Arsene Wenger has gained a reputation for his development of youth prospects, a factor which could sway Hughes' decision if it ever comes to that.
