Lorenzo Insigne Set to Leave Napoli in January With Liverpool Ready to Pounce

It looks increasingly likely that Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne will be exiting the Italian club in January.

The club have refused to increase his salary despite raising the pay of other first team players, and the poor striker left the pitch crying after his own fans laughed at him for missing a penalty against Besiktas in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Insigne has been requesting wages of £100k a week at Napoli, which is the sort of sum that many top earners are given at top six level clubs in England. Not only have the club rejected this, but prospective buyers would still have to shore up £44m to prise Insigne off them.

Insigne is said by theDaily Starto be keen on a move to the Premier League, and Anfield is his most likely destination. The forward's agent is ready to meet Liverpool representatives to explore a potential deal, although the £44m price tag is a major obstacle.

Jurgen Klopp already has plenty of firepower at his disposal with the likes of Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino in impressive form, but Insigne would add yet another attacking dimension.

Spurs have alsobeen linked with the pocket rocket player, with summer signing Vincent Janssen not firing. The Lilywhites have struggled to score without Harry Kane in the team, with Erik Lamela and Janssen in particular exposed in recent weeks.

Lorenzo Insigne's agent is reportedly pushing for talks with Liverpool over a January move to help end the striker's spell at Napoli.

They could do with a striker in the mould of Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez, which Insigne is.

The £44m that Napoli are holding out for is an issue to be resolved, but the striker looks increasingly unsettled and a move might be forced through.
