Low attendance at match venues in local league has nothing to do with e-ticketing – George Mensah

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of E-Ticketing, George Festus Mensah has rubbished the claims that the service is part of the reason why the local league is seeing low patronage during matchdays.

The various match venues of the local leagues especially the Ghana Premier League are recording very poor attendance these days which has become a major problem confronting the league.

According to George Festus Mensah, E-Ticketing is not the problem and it will be wrong for anyone to blame the service instead of identifying the actual problem and dealing with it.

“Those who are blaming poor attendance on our services should first ask themselves what was clubs revenue before the introduction of e-tickets and after the service was introduced.

All stakeholders should come together and figure out what really the problem is. The government even acknowledged that through e-ticketing, they have recorded high sales.

“We should check the time games are played, sometimes we schedule games at 3 pm during working days, also fixtures are changed without proper communication. There are times Match venues are changed without proper plans,” the E-Ticketing CEO proposed.

George Festus Mensah added, “Government and Clubs must educate their fans on how the service is assessed and undertake major promotion of our games so it can attract people to the stadium.

“Low attendance at our game cannot be attributed to e-ticketing.”

Meanwhile, some clubs are calling on the Ghana FA to do more to advertise and embark on publicities to sell the league to Ghanaians.
