Luis Enrique Praises Arda Turan Showing After Champions League Win Over Gladbach

Barcelonamanager Luis Enrique praised the showing of goalscorer Arda Turan following the club's 2-1 Champions League win over Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday night, according toESPN.

Enrique declared the Turkish star was starting to show the form that convinced Barcelona to sign him from Atletico Madrid in the first place, after a difficult first campaign in club colours. Turan struck the equalising goal in Germany after Thorgan Hazard had put Gladbach ahead, and Gerard Pique hit the winner after a mistake by Yann Sommer in the second half.

His coach said after the game:"I'm really happy with Arda's performance.

"This year he's showing the form we all knew he was capable of. He's helping the team a lot, but that's something we knew he'd do when we signed him."

"I sincerely believe the result was fair.It wasn't easy to win here. I want to remind you [Monchengladbach] were 18 games unbeaten at home, including 11 straight wins - so you can see how tough it is to win here.

"We made the substitutions [after the break] to try and open the pitch up and to get players between the lines. In the second half we were better positioned on the pitch than in the first half.

"In the first half we expected that they'd press us more, but they didn't. They sat back and that made things difficult because they don't usually do that at home."

Barca have taken two wins from two in Group C, and now face a double header against Manchester City.
