Luis Suarez Takes Dig at Media for 'Creating Drama' Over Lionel Messi's Contract Talks at Barcelona

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has spoken up in support of teammate Lionel Messi's contract situation at Barcelona, suggesting that the press have created unnecessary 'drama'.


The Argentina international is yet to renew his current contract with the Catalans, sparking rumours that the four-time Ballon d'Or winner is looking to find a new challenge away from the Nou Camp after signing his first professional contract with the club in 2004.

However, after beating Las Palmas 2-0 in La Liga to keep up the chase with league leaders and rivals Real Madrid, according toSport English,Suarez came out and gave his verdict on the current situation regarding his teammate's future at the club, suggesting the speculation has been created unnecessarily.


"It's the press that create the drama, misinterpreting things," said Suarez, before reassuring supporters that he expects Messi to extend his contract.

"He wants to stay and the club already know that they have to do. The president has said he wants him to renew. So we're calm despite everything that [the press] are saying."


Suarez also spoke about the club's chances of regaining their La Liga crown, despite sitting two points behind after playing two more games than Los Blancos, suggesting that the title race isn't over yet after netting twice in their most recent outing.


"This proves wecan still keep up with [Real Madrid].


"It was a difficult game against a tough rival.I'm glad Ihelped the team because I work hard for the collective functions."
