Maddison cool on exit rumours

Published on: 17 June 2019

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison is adamant he won't be distracted by the current speculation surrounding his future.

Maddison is currently away with the England Under-21 squad ahead of this summer's European Championship, but his club future at the King Power Stadium continues to dominate the headlines.

Reports claim the 22-year-old is worth £60million, with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham all chasing his signature this summer.

Maddison has only been with the Foxes for one season since his move from Norwich City but he impressed in the Premier League, scoring seven goals in 36 appearances.

The player's future is expected to be resolved once he returns from this summer's tournament but the former Canaries star says he is not distracted by speculation.

Maddison told Sky Sports News: "No, you have just got to ignore that and take it all in your stride.

"As a 17 year-old boy I'd started five games for Coventry and saw on my phone that I was being linked with Tottenham and Liverpool.

"With transfer talk you need to take it as a compliment that people are even talking about you, it won't distract me."

Leicester are 11/2 to finish in the top six next season.
