Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru could Ghana's final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Central African Republic on September 7 due to injury.

Ashimeru is set to spend time on the sidelines for few weeks after picking up an injury at Anderlecht.

The Black Stars midfielder is believed to have sustained injury during Anderlecht's opening match of the season against Union SG in the Belgian Pro League on July 28.

He was not included in the matchday squad at the weekend for Anderlecht second league game of the season against Royal Antwerp, where they emerged as winners in the clash.

Footballghana.com has learnt the enterprising midfielder could be sidelined for few weeks due to the latest injury setback.

This means, Ashimeru could miss Ghana's final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Central African Republic on September 7.

He has been a regular for the Black Stars in their last three games played under Chris Hughton. He was named in the squad for Angola doubleheader and Madagascar tie in March and June respectively.
