Such has been Liverpool's dominance against the 'top six' clubs they would easily be top of amini league between the sides. Unfortunately it is Liverpool's performances against the lower clubs which have been their main problem, and the reason why Jurgen Klopp's men are struggling to finish in a Champions League place.

Milner commented: "It was very pleasing to play like that against Arsenal, but also disappointing on the other hand because of the other night (against Leicester), not being able to do that consistently."

The former Manchester Cityplayer went on to explain: "We all know how good we are but we have to do it on a more consistent basis - the way we played against a very strong team and dominated, especially in the first half, was brilliant and shows how good we are."

The Reds' star went on to add: "We just need to keep building on that and keep improving to show the consistency. We just need to keep going on that note."

When asked about Liverpool's inconsistency, the 31-year-old said: "We go out to win every game, and we know how good we are and we can win every game. But ultimately we want to get better as a side and keep improving, that's the aim for us. If we do that the wins will come."

The versatile player who has been playing at right-back recently finished by saying: "We can leave it down to everyone else to talk about the top four and the table, and we just take it a game at a time and keep working on what we're working on."

Liverpool take on Manchester City next week in their final game against their five other top of the table rivals. Klopp's men have yet to lose a game, so the omens are good for the game at the Etihad; it's the other games which may be a problem.
