Mallam Yahaya backs appointment of Ibrahim Tanko as Black Stars coach

Ex-Black Stars player Mallam Yahaya says Ibrahim Tanko should be given the opportunity to handle the senior national team if coach Kwesi Appiah is shown the exit.

Kwesi Appiah, 59, has come under a lot of scrutiny following Ghana’s failure at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where they were eliminated at the round 16 by Tunisia on penalties.

The former King Faisal coach backed the 42-year-old for the job describing him as the best in Ghana currently.

"Coach Ibrahim should be given the chance to handle the Black stars team if Kwesi Appiah is sacked," he told Ashh FM Sports.

"Ibrahim Tanko is doing something good with the National U-23 team so if given the Black Stars team, he can handle it very well.

"Ibrahim Tanko is the best coach in the country with the highest coaching License than any other Coach in Ghana"

Tanko was the assistant coach of Cameroon National team from 2013 to 2015.
