The Brazilian teenager has been out since the middle of February after breaking his metatarsal at Bournemouth.

He is now off his crutches after more than six weeks and Guardiola believes he is on the road to recovery.

The City boss said: “He was in New York. It was freezing. He told me that. The crutches are gone.

“He has started to walk and hopefully he can come back to the pitches and start to run.

“Hopefully he can help us in the last games of the season and come back for us in the pre-season."
