Manchester City are closing a deal for Barcelona defender Eric Garcia.
Sport says City have swooped to sign Garcia – the player dubbed the “new Carles Puyol".
The youngster's representatives informed Nou Camp chiefs of their decision yesterday.
Garcia was considered to be the best defender in the Spanish club's academy.
The 16-year-old had been playing for their Cadet A side and they had high hopes for his future.
However, those plans were scuppered on Thursday upon learning of his exit.
