Ilkay Gundogan can breathe a sigh of relief after it was revealed the injury he sustained in Wednesday night's Carabao Cup win over West Brom is not serious.

The German limped from the field early in the second half after a collision with Claude Yacob.

Gundogan has been out of action since December and this week admitted he's not the same player he once was due to his injuries.

A report on the club's website read: "It is too early at this stage to give an exact time-frame on his absence but he is expected to be back on the training field in the coming days."

The player himself tweeted: "Hi all, thank you for all your messages! I'm happy to tell you my injury is nothing serious and I hope to be back soon on the pitch!"
