Man City shock Real Madrid with world record £161 MILLION Kylian Mbappe bid

Manchester City are ready to SMASH the world record transfer with a £161 MILLION bid for Monaco superkid Kylian Mbappe.

The Sun says are making an 11th-hour bid to hijack Real Madrid's world record £161m move for Mbappe.

The Monaco whizkid, 18, looks destined for the Bernabeu in an initial £143m deal that will smash the biggest transfer set by Manchester United's Paul Pogba at £89m.

But big-spending City, who asked about Mbappe earlier in the summer — only to be scared off at the time by the asking price — are still interested.

And City would jump at the chance of taking Mbappe if his move to Spain is not finalised.

Real are believed to be closing in on the eye- watering mega deal but Monaco claimed yesterday no deal has been agreed.

It is thought Real will pay £143.5m plus £17.5m in add-ons including fees for Champions League and La Liga wins.

Mbappe is likely to be given a six-year deal.
