Manchester City will continue to spend money on players this summer, according to chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.

City have already paid £43m to Monaco for Bernardo Silva, and are expected to announce the world-record signing of goalkeeper Ederson from Benfica within the next 24 hours.

The Sky Blues failed to win a trophy this season, and although Al Mubarak admits it was a 'disappointment', the club still show faith in Guardiola and will continue to support him next season.

"Pep has introduced a new way of playing for us, an exciting way, but a way that requires work and which requires a set of players that function within that system," said Al Mubarak.

"Probably if I look back at this season, that puzzle wasn't complete. I hope this summer we support Pep in completing that puzzle. We are going to go and get some of the best talent in the world to be part of this strategy we have been pursuing."
