Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has admitted the loss of Wayne Rooney has been detrimental to the dressing room.
The 31-year old joined Everton on a free transfer earlier this month after failing to maintain regular playing time under the Portuguese.
Although Mourinho was happy for Rooney to continue playing football elsewhere, he is saddened by the loss of a 'positive influence' on his squad.
"Wayne was a very positive influence," said Mourinho.
"We cannot say we are going to improve the group because Wayne left. No way, or the other way around.
"He was such an important guy and good guy for us, I just think it is a new period without that face, without that leaders, without that good influence on us."
