Man Utd offer contract carrot to Ibrahimovic

Manchester United have left the door open to handing Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new contract.

The Swede's name appeared on the Premier League's released list on Friday, with no word from United regarding a potential new deal.

However, it appears that the former Inter Milan forward will remain at the club and will be granted access to their Carrington training base while he continues his rehab from knee surgery.

The Manchester Evening News says if his recovery is successful and United feel they could use him, it has been mooted that he could be offered a short-term deal to see out the remainder of the season.

Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals before serious knee ligament damage brought his campaign to a halt in April.
