Bombshell revelations today claim he wants to leave the Spanish capital following the news that an investigation into his into his tax affairs had been launched.

BBC report Simon Stone told 5Live: “I think Manchester United will be surveying this, they'll be keeping their heads down.

“I don't think they will be telling anybody that they want to sign Ronaldo.

“But, if they get the chance, I am absolutely certain they will be straight in there.

“The word is that Mourinho and Ronaldo fell out when the pair were at Real Madrid.

“The thing is, if you were going to ask Manchester United fans who would they want at United? Jose Mourinho or Cristiano Ronaldo? Most of them would say, 'We want Ronaldo'.

“I think it would be up to Jose really to make it work because I don't think many Manchester United fans would understand, if the option was there to sign him, why Manchester United wouldn't take it up."
