Manchester City left-back Gael Clichy has dismissed talk of his future, and insisted that any uncertainty will not have an adverse effect on his performances.

The 31-year-old defender is out of contract at the end of the season having made 26 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.

Clichy appears to have established himself as first choice ahead ofAleksandar Kolarov in recent weeks, but has made it clear that he is focused simply on the team's goals for the remainder of the season.

My future is irrelevant," he said - viathe Mirror."I am focused on the games and nothing else. You have to put contracts to one side and think only about winning trophies. This can still be a great season and I will do everything to play my part.

City take a 5-3 lead into their Champions League last 16 second leg against Monaco on Wednesday, looking to progress through to the quarter-finals.

With Leicester trailing against Sevilla ahead of their return leg, it could be that Pep Guardiola's side are the last remaining English club in the competition.

But Clichy has refused to entertain thoughts of progression until the job is done, claiming that Monaco are very much still in with a chance at theStade Louis II.

We know it's not finished until it's finished," he added."Barcelona's result shows that anything is possible.

City remain in contention for both the FA Cup and the Champions League after Saturday's win against Middlesbrough, although they are ten points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea.
