Manchester City Reportedly Planning Move for Tottenham and England Left-Back Danny Rose

Manchester City are reportedly targeting Spurs left-back Danny Rose as they look to strengthen their defence.

According to theMirror, Pep Guardiola has made a new full-back a priority, and has been scouting across Europe in an attempt to find the ideal player.

And it seems that Rose could be that player, despite having only signed a new five year deal with Spurs as recently as September.

Nonetheless, Guardiola is said to have been impressed by the speedy England international, with a figure of £25m the possible starting point of negotiations.

City's current selection of full-backs are all over the age of 30 -Aleksander Kolarov, Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy - and have come under criticism as part of a back five in recent weeks.

Saturday's 4-2 defeat at Leicester highlighted the defensive deficiencies in the squad, so Rose at 26-years-old, could provide a much needed increase in speed and youth.

City scouts have reportedly been watching Rose in action, although they could face competition from rivals Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho is also considered to be looking for a new left-back, and the Red Devils were linked with Rose when Louis van Gaal was at the club.

Both clubs will have to deal with the notoriously dogmatic Daniel Levy, chairman of Spurs, if they are to get anywhere with negotiations. With the form Rose has been in, it's unlikely that that would be an easy process.
