Manchester City Will Quadruple Julian Weigl's Wages to Win Race for Young Dortmund Star

Manchester City have been linked again with a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl, according toBild.


The 21-year-old has established himself as a key part in Dortmund's team since making his for the club back in 2015, and has65 appearances to his namein all competitions since then.

Having previously managed Bundesliga giantsBayern Munich, Manchester City managerGuardiola knows a thing or two aboutthe German market and has reportedly picked out Weigl as a priority target.


While the Citizenscurrently has the likes of Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan and Fernando at their disposal in defensive midfield roles - not to mention the prodigal Yaya Toure -the Etihad club are still believed to be inthe battle to sign the former 1860 Munich youngster.


European giantsReal Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan are all reportedly interested Weigl, whose contract expires in 2019.


Despite the long term deal in placeDortmund are eager to prolong Weigl's stay at the club even further to ward off unwanted interest, and will reportedly offer him an extension of a year with a pay rise.

However, Bild have claimed Weigl could earn fourfold in England compared to what he currently makes in Germany, and Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc has revealed the club are eager to start negotiations with Weigl over a new contract as soon as possible, having been impressed by the Germany international's development in recent years.


"We want to follow the excellent development of Julian and have the desire to bind him to our club in the long term," the 54-year-old said.


Weigl's Dortmund are currently in seventh place in the Bundesliga, nine points behind early leaders RB Leipzig and six behind rivals Bayern Munich.
