Manchester City Winger Leroy Sane Ready to Prove Himself Under Pep Guardiola After Challenging Start

Manchester City's Leroy Sane is determined to prove himself as a regular starter for manager Pep Guardiola after some promising performances in the Premier League, but admits the transition has been tough following his summer move.

The 20-year-old made the switch from Bundesliga side Schalke at the beginning of the season, but endured a stuttering start after arriving with a hamstring injury, and has made just 13 appearances in all competitions thus far this campaign.

But the young German international scored his first goal for the club against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium last time out, and, according toManchester Evening News, intends to build on that momentum in the new year.

"Naturally I am delighted to have scored my first goal. Being injured was tough but I have confidence in my own abilities," said Sane.

"I know there will be more to come, more to give to this team and I am working hard at that, striving to improve throughout.

"It has been quite difficult coming in injured, and also coming to a new country and a new league, and settling in, but then trying to establish myself in the team.

"From that point on it has been about trying to break into the team, hit the ground running, play with all these incredible players and try to do a great job for the side."

Sane will be hopeful of now earning a chance to start the next couple of games under Guardiola, with the Citizens set to face two tough away trips in the coming weeks, including Hull City and fellow title challengers Liverpool.
