Manchester United and Barcelona Reportedly in Talks over Potential Summer Friendly

Manchester United and Barcelona could well meet this summer in a mouth-wateringexhibition game.

According to reports in the Manchester Evening News, a meeting between the two is being mooted for July, with Washington DC believed to be a likely venue for the game.

If the fixture goes ahead, it could well be played at NFL side Washington Red Skins' home, the FedExField.

United have previouslymet Barcelona at this stadium in 2011, when goals from Wayne Rooney, Jesse Lingard and Adnan Januzajhelped Sir Alex Ferguson's side to a 3-1 victory.

Manchester United officials haveremained tight-lipped regarding the club's pre-season tour this summer, although it now appears highly likely to be America.

The schedule for the International Champions Cup is set to be revealed next month, and United are believed to be interested in staying atthe University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

If Mourinho's side do indeed choose the US as theirpre-season destination, itis rumoured they could face rivals Manchester City, Real Madrid oran MLS side, as well as competing inthe International Champions Cup.

Last season, United headed to China for their pre-season tour, where they met German side Dortmund, before their following fixture against Manchester City was postponed due to rain.

United then returned to Europe to playGalatasaray in Sweden before Wayne Rooney's testimonial against Everton took place at Old Trafford four days later.

ManchesterUnited last travelled to America in 2015, when they faced the likes of PSG and Barcelona.
