Manchester United Left-Back Luke Shaw Reveals Surprising Choice for His Toughest Ever Opponent

Published on: 30 November 2016

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has surprisingly named Chelsea's Victor Moses as his toughest Premier League opponent.

The 21-year-old, who earned a £30m switch to United from Southampton in 2014, has made 13 appearances so far this season, which is already five more than he managed all of last year.

In his career he has come up against the best, tasked with dealing with stars likeEden Hazard, Raheem Sterling, Sadio Mane and many more.

But although a more household name would usually fit the bill as his toughest opponent, Shaw thinks that Chelsea winger Victor Moses is the toughest due to his strength, power and directness.

"A lot of people have rinsed me for this,"Shaw told YouTuber Tobiias.

"But my toughest opponent is Victor Moses.

"The power and strength he had, he was just so direct and never gave me a second to breathe."

"Obviously I was pretty young and it was my first or second season with Southampton, but thinking back that was the toughest game I've had."

Shaw was also asked for the name of one left-sided player he would love to play behind, to which he replied: "I would've loved to play with Beckham, but current for now I'd have to say Messi. For me he's the best player in the World right now."

Shaw played in the first-half of Man Utd's comfortable quarter-final win over West Ham last night, which saw United advance to the semi-final stage with an emphatic 4-1 win over Slaven Bilic's side.
