Manchester United Star Linked With January Exit After Being Spotted in Milan on Monday

Manchester United fans may get one of their most anticipated Christmas presents just a touch late this year, with the news that terminally unpopular Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini could be on his way out of Old Trafford in January.

MailOnline Sportreport that the powerful midfielder has discussed the possibility of a January switch to Serie A with his United teammates, after failing to make a single start in any competition over the last six weeks.

Both of Milan's Serie A clubs have been linked with a move for the 29-year-old this season, with reports that both Fellaini and his twin brother Mansour were spotted in the football-rich Italian city on Monday.

United are said to have declined the chance to offer the hard-playing midfielder a new contract as his current deal enters his last 18 months, but would rather sell him sooner rather than later in order to recoup some of the money they've spent in recent transfer windows, and get him off the wage bill.

His high wage demands - thought to be in the region of £120,000-a-week - could prove a stumbling block for a number of teams, but both Milan and Inter are among the group of clubs who could reasonably be expected to cough up the cash for a player they wanted.

Blows the mind Mou persisted with 4-2-3-1 and Fellaini instead of 433 with Pogba/Carrick/Herrera. Any old oaf could see it.

Fellaini has been an unpopular man with a section of United's fans ever since he signed for £27.5m by David Moyes in 2013, but his stock fell to possibly its lowest level yet against Everton at the start of the month, coming on as a late substitute before giving away a penalty and costing the club two precious points.

A week later, when he was spotted warming up along the touchline in United's win over Tottenham, a vocal section of the fans booed him. When he actually came on, he got the same treatment. Few players have survived such fan vitriol for long.
